Acquisitions & Sales
1. I have a single high-quality shotgun/rifle for sale. Are you interested?
Absolutely. While we acquire entire collections, we are always interested in acquiring individual firearms, particularly 19th and 20th-century shotguns, hunting rifles and pistols.
2. How does the process work if I want to sell my collection to you?
The process begins with a confidential consultation where we review your inventory in person. If there is an interest that fits with our focus, we will provide a fair market offer for a direct purchase.
3. Do you handle the shipping and transfer of firearms?
Yes. As a professional group, we ensure all acquisitions and transfers are handled in strict accordance with federal and state regulations. We manage the logistics of safely transporting firearms to our facility.
Appraisals & Valuation
4. How do you determine the market value of a vintage firearm?
We utilize a combination of historical records, current auction data, market trends and physical inspections of condition, originality and provenance. Factors such as age, condition, originality, serial numbers, original factory specifications and even packaging to ensure an accurate valuation.
5. Do you provide appraisals for insurance or estate planning?
Yes. We provide formal, documented appraisals that meet the requirements for insurance riders, estate planning, and legal distribution. These reports offer a clear and equitable path for executors and heirs.
6. Is there a fee for an initial consultation?
We offer an initial private inquiry to discuss your needs and the scope of your collection at no charge. Detailed, written appraisals for legal or insurance purposes are billed based on the time and research required.
Estate & Collection Management
7. Can you help me manage a large inherited collection?
This is our core specialty. We assist executors and families in identifying the historical significance and current standing of an inventory, providing a seamless way to manage or liquidate assets. Many families rely on us to take away the headache and legal ramifications of disposing of an loved one's collection.
8. What makes River Oaks Arms Group different from a standard gun shop?
We provide a private, concierge-level experience focused on fine arms and collectibles rather than high-volume modern firearm sales. We have deep experience in evaluations of individual firearms as well as collections and rely on a methodical and professional approach to every transaction.
9. Do you offer cleaning or restoration services?
Not directly. We primarily focus on collection management and acquisitions. However, we are happy to provide guidance on the proper preservation of vintage firearms to maintain their historical value.
Privacy & Licensing
10. How do you protect my privacy during an inquiry?
Discretion is a key to our business. All inquiries are treated as private matters, and we do not share the details of your collection or personal information with third parties without your explicit consent.
