Still, we are able to pay more for your firearms than other sources due to our business model and low, low overhead. For example, say you want to sell a firearm that will retail for $1,000. Pawn shop buys gun from you for 25% of retail.
You get paid $250.
Sell to Gun Store
Gun store buys gun from you for 40-50% or retail.

Auction sells gun for $800 and takes 25% from you (the seller) & 25% from buyer.

2. I have a single high-quality shotgun/rifle I want to sell. Are you interested?
Absolutely. We acquire entire collections as well as single firearms. We are particularly interested in 19th and 20th-century shotguns, hunting rifles, pistols and military firearms.
3. How does the process work if I want to sell my collection to you?
The process begins with a confidential consultation where we review your inventory through pictures or in person. If there is an interest that fits with our focus, we will provide a fair market offer for a direct purchasem usually within 24 hours.
4. Do you handle the shipping and transfer of firearms if needed?
Yes. We ensure all acquisitions and transfers are handled in strict accordance with federal and state regulations. We manage the logistics of safely transporting firearms to our facility.

5. How do you determine the market value of a vintage firearm?
We utilize a combination of historical records, current auction data, market trends and physical inspections of condition, originality and provenance. Factors such as age, condition, originality, serial numbers, original factory specifications and even packaging to ensure an accurate valuation.
6. Do you provide appraisals for insurance or estate planning?
Yes. We provide formal, documented appraisals that meet the requirements for insurance riders, estate planning, and legal distribution. These reports offer a clear and equitable path for executors and heirs.
7. Is there a fee for an initial consultation?
No. We offer an initial private phone call to discuss your needs and the scope of your collection at no charge. Detailed, written appraisals for legal or insurance purposes are billed based on the time and research required.

8. A family member passed. Can you help me manage a large inherited collection?
Yes. We assist executors and families dealing with firearms collections. We provide a seamless way to manage or liquidate assets. Many families rely on us to take away the headache and legal ramifications of disposing of an loved one's collection.
9. What makes River Oaks Arms Group different from a standard gun shop?
We provide a private, concierge-level experience focused on fine arms and collectibles rather than high-volume modern firearm sales. We have deep experience in evaluations of individual firearms as well as collections and rely on a methodical and professional approach to every transaction. Given our low overhead (no retail locations), we are able to offer more for your firearms.
10. Do you offer cleaning or restoration services?
Not directly. We primarily focus on purchasing firearms and collection management / acquisitions. However, we are happy to provide guidance on the proper preservation of vintage firearms to maintain their historical value.

Discretion is a key to our business. All inquiries are treated as private matters, and we do not share the details of your collection or personal information with third parties without your explicit consent.
12. Are you a licensed firearms dealer?
Yes, we have passed scrutiny with the ATF and are a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). In addition, River Oaks Arms Group, LLC is a registered business entity in the state of Texas. We operate with the necessary professional standards required for the purchase and appraisal of collectible firearms.
13. Where are you located and what are your service areas?
River Oaks Arms Group is based in Houston, Texas and primarily serves the greater Houston metropolitan area. We do often take appointments in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio areas depending on the firearm, the collection and travel schedules.
Houston areas served include River Oaks, Piney Point Village, Hunters Creek Village, Bunker Hill Village, West University Place (West U), Tanglewood, Southside Place, Afton Oaks, Avalon Place, Hedwig Village, Crestwood, Glen Cove, Memorial, Carlton Woods, Katy, Sugar Land, Pearland and The Woodlands.
